Dear all,
I want to know if TetraX tested on Windows 11. Because I tried to install but I faced this error. I think there is some problem with my git. please help me. Thanks
Solution inserted by developer: The problem is related to git being blocked in China. Using a VPN during installation can circumvent this issue.
Dear Milad,
Thanks for you message.
I have a PhD student using a Windows 11 laptop, importantly she is the administrator of the laptop. She installed TetraX on her laptop following the TetraX installation guidelines, also using command prompt (not the regular but the one from Anaconda) and not the Windows power shell.
Do you get this error message you show when installing TetraX or when you install pip?
Cheers,
Attila
Dear Prof.Kakay,
Hi. Infact I installed TetraX on Windows 10 on my old laptop successfully but now on my new laptop (windows 11) I faced this problem. Infact first I must install Git and then TetraX as I saw in the documentation but I can not install Git so I can not go to the next step. I do not know what is wrong. For the pip, it was updated successfully but Git can not be installed.
Best regards,
PS: My friends also could not install on Windows 11.
Dear Milad,
Yes I remember that you installed TetraX on a Windows 10 laptop, I also helped you with some parts.
About the Windows 11: since I do not know the steps you have taken, let’s go through them one by one.
First question: did you install Anaconda?
Cheers,
Attila
Dear Prof. Kakay,
Yes on windows 10 we installed TetraX with your help and it works well now. About Anaconda yes I have already installed it on new laptop (window 11).
Best regards
Maybe this screenshot can help. I am installing from Anaconda prompt but it gives this error. I did not face this in Windows 10.
I already run Anaconda prompt “As administrator” but still face this error
Thanks!
So you can run the: “conda install pip” and the installation of pip worked but when you lunch: “pip install git”, you are getting the error you sent in the image. Isn’t it?
Best,
Attila
Dear Prof. Kakay,
Yes exactly. I have successfully installed pip. But for the git, it gives the error even when I enter the Anaconda prompt as administrator! This is a bit strange. I am still trying.
Cheers
Dear Milad,
When you finally succeeded to install TetraX on your Windows 10 laptop, you wrote me the following: “I am glad to inform you that finally I could install Tetrax successfully on my laptop but I think for our server it is not possible since we must install git first and it needs VPN here. Anyway…” Could this be the problem (doing in from China) you cannot install git? I remember that you were outside of China when you installed TetraX.
Cheers,
Attila
Dear Prof. Kakay,
Yes. You are right. I forgot about that! I will try it with VPN now and share the result here as soon as possible. I hope this can solve the problem.
Cheers
Dear Prof.Kakay,
You were right. The problem is solved. Thanks a lot. I successfully installed Git and TetraX and ran the first example " Dispersion in nanotube". All stages worked well except the last one which I think I can solve by Googling. I must install Matplotlib with Conda I suppose.
Dear Milad,
Happy to see that your installation issues are resolved. The remaining issue that you are showing is related to your python environment. A reinstall of matplotlib with might resolve this. If not, take out the %matplotlib notebook
command in your notebook and rerun all cells.
Best, Lukas
Thanks dear Lukas. With your and Prof. Kakay’s help I could do it. I really appreciate it. For the matplotlib I will try as soon as I can and then share the result here. So now we can say that TetraX is working well on Windows 11.
Cheers
Dear all,
The problem of the last stage will be solved by removing the command %matplotlib notebook. Now TetraX for me works very well and I ran several examples from the documentation successfully.
So TetraX works fully on Windows 11 (I used Conda prompt and installed by Conda, for me, the pip command did not work on Windows 11 but worked well on Windows 10.
I will read the documentation carefully and learn TetraX well and I hope to use it as a tool for my future paper.
Best regards,
Milad
